r/datadao is a community-owned data collective. Join with your reddit account, add your data, and earn points based on your karma. Use the community dataset as the start of a new, user-owned Reddit, vote to rent the data to other AI companies, or vote to delete it if Reddit agrees to pay you directly.

How it works
Join using your reddit username. Get points based on your karma, and confirm you own your account by commenting. Connect your wallet and claim karma points. Optionally, earn more points by connecting your full reddit history.

Your data is valuable
Reddit has already sold our data for $60M a year, and forecasts $200M a year from our data. “Reddit, whose 17 billion posts and comments are seen by AI experts as valuable for training chatbots in the art of conversation, announced a deal last month to license the content to Google.” That’s all off the back of our hard work!

Your data is yours
Reddit isn’t the only one who has access to Reddit data - we each have access to our own posts, comments, and other data, thanks to data regulation like CCPA and GDPR. If we come together to export them, we can build a data treasury to take on Reddit and build our own user-owned version of it. The data treasury is held securely in escrow using the Vana Network. Actions can only be taken if we collectively vote using our karma points.

Why is that $200M going straight to reddit rather than the users who actually created the data? r/datadao can vote to use the data to start our own version of Reddit, directly sell our data to AI companies, or use our collective power to get Reddit to pay us directly.
